2nd Shift Paint Tech I/II


Primary responsibilities in manufacturing are to drive department and enterprise key initiatives through continuous process improvement, improving customer satisfaction, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and eliminating variation in manufacturing processes. Candidates for this position should have energy and passion to improve both our production and functional processes while leading with integrity. This role will directly support our coatings department and be primarily focused on supporting our operations team through “hands on” training, auditing, and troubleshooting of the Window Plant paint lines.


JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Track PM compliance on wear equipment (regulators, flowmeters, pickups, Y-Block and mix tube, color blocks, disc and feed tubes, booth filters, solvent recovery temperature and sensors, UV roll coat equipment.
  • Responsible for rebuilding critical worn equipment (pumps, paint guns, regulators, flow meters)
  • Provide first level troubleshooting assistance to paint line operators during down time events
  • Lead training program for new operators and cross training of existing operators
  • Support of coatings operations focused on improving Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
  • Own Window Plant paint line test request process
  • Perform solvent recovery unit audits
  • Perform Q-Prep day tank, L-Prep day tank and EM-11 day tank audits
  • Work closely with production supervisors, team leads, and production employees to perform problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aligned to lean manufacturing principles
  • Lead cost reductions and yield improvements with delivery partners
  • Improve equipment capability and reliability
  •  Identify opportunities for error proofing and implement solutions
  • Be highly visible within the value stream to create a safe environment for collaboration
  • Promote a hands on, high involvement approach to problem solving
  • Take instruction from management to follow up on in-house quality problems.  To be part of a team to make decisions and resolve such problems.
  • Complete quality checks and standard work audits at all paint line stations.
  • Actively participate in root-cause analysis using PDCA thinking for any non-adherence to standards throughout paint line cost centers.
  • Actively engage with Maintenance and the Engineering team on set up and equipment improvements for new and existing machines.
  • Advanced knowledge of product, process, and customer’s expectations within the AW value streams.
  • Work with Standard work, JBA’s, control plans, work instructions and quality specifications.  Work with support staff on keeping standard work documents current and relevant to defined output.
  • Create job process aids and training videos.
  • Support respectful workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years’ experience in Painting Operations
  • Basic SPC station use and computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand product drawings and specifications
  • Ability to read and understand reports and a requirement to cross train on several operations
  • Strong bias for action, communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Coachable
  • Positive attitude with a desire to build relationships and serve both our internal and external customers
  • Strong, proactive communicator, effective both 1:1 and in groups

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate.
