ROLE DESCRIPTION  

To efficiently and accurately assist in the operation of veneering and support equipment to provide a quality component in a timely manner according to established schedules. Is developing an understanding of the mechanical operation of the Wrapper, Glue-melter, and the Abrader. Primarily responsible for feeding or off-bearing the equipment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain assignments and instructions from supervisor.
  • Assist in the set-up of the machine for all profiles.
  • Take direction from senior operators in the set-up, machine operation, quality requirements, and inventory control procedures for all profiles.
  • Under the direct supervision of more senior operators, remove and replace glue roller and clean glue pot and reservoir.
  • Lubricate and check machines to ensure proper operation. Perform daily preventative maintenance and clean-up procedures.
  • Perform work center quality checks and reports are properly.
  • Moves material in and out of the veneer storage area per schedule needs and standard work. Keeps area neat and clean.
  • Records daily production.
  • Ensures work area is properly kept and arranged to insure smooth and safe operation of machines and material handling.
  • Carries out similar and other related duties of the job.
  • Prevent damage to any part of the veneering operation. (Wrapper, glue melter, abrader).
  • Prevent bearing failure and other excessive wear by proper lubrication.
  • Prevent material loss by minimizing mistakes in set-up and inspection.
  • Prevent labor loss in re-setups, extra setups.
  • Prevent material loss by maintaining veneer storage room and ensuring humidity level is at proper level.

Secondary Responsiblities

  • Perform general maintenance tasks as necessary
  • Attend and participate in appropriate training and development programs
  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Equipment maintenance experience
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Ability to articulate problems and solutions verbally
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and process procedures
  • Ability and skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:

·         Must be able to stand for 8 hrs

·         Must be able to lift 50 lbs

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter.
